2017 Travel For Every Occasion

If you’re going to make a New Year’s Resolution, make it a realistic one. This year, for me, is to continue on my path of planning with intention and staying organized. My whimsically impulsive nature will never fully be quelled but I find myself so much more relaxed when I take the time and put effort into my traveling. So for 2017, I have come up with some trips, tips and looks to make all of your travel dreams come true!

Places to Go

The Ski Trip: Brian Head Ski Resort

Approximately 2.5 hours away from Las Vegas and a straight shot on the freeway, Brian Head is easy. Don’t expect anything like Park City or Aspen in this small Utah ski town but do know you will get easy access to well groomed runs that accommodate a range of skill sets. There’s no nightlife, I mean NONE, except for the bar at the lodge and one at the ski resort itself. So grab a group of friends and cozy up by a fire, play board games and reconnect with the simplicity of a weekend getaway.

  • Location: Brian Head, UT
  • Price: $$
  • Vibe: Outdoors + Low-Key
  • Season: Year-round
    • Hiking is pretty in the Summer and Ski/Snowboard in the Winter

Recommendations: The Grand Lodge Ski Resort

The Weekend Getaway: Newport Beach

A quick 45 minute flight to John Wayne Airport, makes Newport Beach the perfect place for an easy weekend trip. If you choose to drive and there’s no traffic it can be as little as 3.5 hours. Newport has the perfect beach vacation vibe, is close to Laguna Beach and L.A. I love to escape to the beach, drink mimosas and listen to the waves crash while winding down from the week but still having ample options for great dining and a fun little laid back nightlife scene.

  • Location: Newport Beach, CA
  • Price: $$$-$$$$
  • Vibe: Beach / Low-Key / Fine Dining
  • Season: Year-round
    • The best time is to go in July-September but it is beautiful all year round

Reccommendations: Pelican Grill, The Quiet Woman, Mutt Lynch’s, Beachcomber, Balboa Bay Resort, Sidedoor

The Fun Inspiration: Nashville

I’ll be going to Nashville for the second time in April and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s a 3.5 hour flight from Las Vegas, which is easy if you go direct. I’ve decided, as a form of motivation, I am going to sign up for races in places I want to make a point to visit. So my first one will be the 5k! Nashville is such an amazing city filled with an energy that cannot be accurately described, only felt. You could go for the food alone and not be able to indulge enough. From the Honkey Tonks on Broadway to Vanderbilt University there really is something for everyone to see.I really can’t wait to listen to some bluegrass and get reinspired by the energy of city.

  • Location: Nashville, TN
  • Price: $$$
  • Vibe: Southern Comfort / Music City
  • Season: Spring & Fall
    • The south gets humid in the Summer and wet in the Winter
    • Go before May to stroll outside and avoid the heat and humidity

Reccomendations: The Station Inn, Oak Bar at Hermitage Hotel, Patterson House, Monell’sL.A. Jackson Bar

The Adventure: New England Foliage

This is a bucket list trip for me. I’m still in the planning stages, but come this fall I will be driving the New England coast to witness the actual change of seasons. In addition to watching the leaves change there will be a quest for the perfect chowder and lobster to fill my belly. From Conneticut to Maine, there are a number of scenic places to see and quaint towns to explore. Sometimes the best adventures are spent alone, where you can do all the things you want without having to consider anyone else’s agenda.

  • Location: New England – East Coast
  • Price: $$-$$$$
  • Vibe: TBD
  • Season: Fall

The Reset: Enchantment Resort & Spa in Sedona (Mii Amo Spa)

This destination spa and resort is set in Boynton Canyon, in Sedona. Mii Amo Spa incorporates Native American traditions to offer healing if the body, mind and spirit. This is on the list for the year but I haven’t been before. I have never done a spa vacation and am very excited to have a getaway filled with pampering and spiritual awakenings. I always find it hard to detox and rejuvenate myself when I’m in my own home. I decided I need to completely check out and avoid getting distracted by running errands or getting caught up in daily tasks.

  • Location: Sedona, AZ
  • Price: $$$$
  • Vibe: Natural Desert Spa
  • Season: Fall / Winter / Spring

The Much Needed Long Vacation: Telluride

This is another place I have never been but have always wanted to visit. Whether I go in Winter for or Spring is yet to be determined. Regardless of the season, I am very much looking forward to experiencing all the town and nature has to offer while relaxing in a beautiful setting. Telluride requires a bit of planning to get to so it’s perfect to schedule a week away in order to give ample time for relaxing, seeing the town and exploring without rushing.

  • Location: Telluride, CO
  • Price: TBD
  • Vibe: TBD
  • Season: Fall / Winter / Spring
